TXB0302: Can open drain signals be connected to this

Part Number: TXB0302
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXU0202

Hi

We are using TXB0302DQMR in our design. Following is our implementation

Since INTR signal( connected to pin 2) is an open drain signal we are facing issue. The signal is not toggling as expected. However the level translator works fine w.r.t the reset signal which is a i/p at pin 6.

We tried to add a pullup at pin 2 and  after this we see some toggling but its to a negligible voltage level of 100 mV.So issue still persists. Pls let us know the following

  • Can this level shifter(TXB0302DQMR) be used for open drain inputs?
  • In case if we have to change this IC to TXS0102DQMR will it affect the reset signal as its not open drain

Kindly let us know as we are testing our board and facing this issue.

  • The TXB does not work with strong pull-ups or pull-downs (see p. 6 of the datasheet). Ensure that the total pull-up resistance is at least 20 kΩ.

For unidirectional signals, better use a unidirectional translator like the TXU0202.
