SN74LV4040A: counter with low power consumption or will keep count value even Vcc is off

Hello expert,

May we know if SN74LV4040A can support remaining count value and clear count value when we used CLR pin? If Vcc is off will clean the count value, we need to use low power consumption solution since we will use RTC battery power for it. May you recommend part support customer's function? Thanks a lot!

Hi Ann,

Yes if VCC is off the count restarts. I don't believe we have any device with a persistent count, or if such a device exists. The CLR pin will reset the count when set high.

I think this device is a good counter solution for low power, it has 20uA max current draw from VCC.
