TXS0108E: Load current capability

Dear Team,

Hope you are doing well!

Recently our customer is using TXS0108E, and they want to confirm how much load current can TXS0108E drive on the output?

Will the load current sourcing capability be influenced by pull-up resistor and are not influenced by open-drain or push-pull system (On datasheet 9.3.2)?

The TXS is a passive switch. A high level is generated by the pull-up resistors; a low level must be driven by the other devices.

In the datasheet, it is said that the sinking capability is is determined by the external system-level open-drain (or push-pull) drivers that are interfaced to the TXS0108E I/O pins shown like below:

What is the maximum sinking capacity for TXS0108E? Do we have a parameter on the datasheet that can demonstrate the sinking capacity due to different external system?

The TXS does not really sink current. The current flows through the switch; the external drivers sink this current.

The TXS's absolute maximum rating is 50 mA; the external drivers have their own limits.

Hi Xenon,

Emphasizing on Clemens' response- due to the direct connection between the inputs and outputs, the VOL levels will have a direct dependency on the VIL into the device, as well as the current that is being sourced/sunk into the external drivers. Please reference to Factors Affecting VOL for TXS and LSF Auto-bidirectional Translation Devices for more information.
