SN74CB3T3245 interface to 5V

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74CB3T3245

I'm trying to design in the SN74CB3T3245 for the following requirements in my system:

  • Vcc= 2.5V
  • Bi-directional communication between  domain A (2.5/3.3V) and domain B (3.3V/5.0V)
  • 8-bits

If Vcc=2.5, the output side is 2.1V~2.5V dependent on current draw, that leaves a small margin for 5V TTL Vih levels (5V CMOS will fail).

Is it possible to add external pullup resistors to 5V?

Our company would like to avoid the TXS/TXB line of translators, but I'm open to any other suggestion.  Thanks!
