TXB0108: MCU CAN bus pins voltage translators

Part Number: TXB0108
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AXC8T245, TXV0108

Can I use the product with part number TXB0108 for CAN bus? When I look at the data rate of the material, it appears to be 100Mbps. Can bus is maximum speed 2Mbps. In this case, can I convert the processor outputs with 1.8V pins to 3.3V after connecting them to TXB0108 and then use them as can bus in the outside world with a high speed can transceiver? will I have problems with TXB0108 in this case?

  • Hi Baris,

If I understand correctly, you intend to use the TXB device between the CAN controller and the CAN transceiver. Hence, you may use the device if no concerns for the datasheet's sections 8.3.2, 8.3.3 and 8.3.5.

However, I presume the pins on each channel go in a fixed direction i.e pins for 1.8 V to 3.3 V or 3.3 V to 1.8 V but never the same pin for 1.8 V Left right arrow 3.3 V. If so, I would further recommend a fixed direction device without the above concerns. Please see TXV0108 or SN74AXC8T245, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
