TXU0102: Can TXU0102 be used as I2C bus switch?

Part Number: TXU0102
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9511A, LSF0102, TCA9406, PCA9306, SN74LVC2G66, TXS0102, TCA9803

Hi team,

I'd like to know if VCCA and VCCB of TXU0102 can be same voltage and this device can be used as ON/OFF switch for I2C.
Let me know if there is other appropriate device.

Best regards
koyo

  • I²C requires open-drain signals. But TXU devices have buffered push/pull outputs, so they cannot be used for I²C.

The simplest way to switch I²C signals is to use an actual switch like the SN74LVC2G66. You could also use any I²C translator or buffer that supports equal I/O voltages on both sides, e.g., LSF0102/PCA9306, TXS0102/TCA9406, TCA9803. For hot-plugging, there is the TCA9511A.
