TXS0108E: TXS0108EPWR is not performing properly.

Part Number: TXS0108E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LXC8T245, TXU0104

Hi,

 We are using TXS0108EPWR for level conversion from 3.3V - VCCA (controller side) to 5V - VCCB (motor driver side).  Below are the queries for the same.

Our design case is;

VCCA = 3.3V

VCCB = 5.0V

OE = pull up with 1K through VCCA

A1 to A8 is directly connected controller pin

B1 to B8 is directly connected to motror driver (there are four drivers with two inputs each)

Problem statements;

1- We are not getting the desired 5V output. (motor driver is not functioning properly)

2- What is the logic transition for the converter. I mean to say that what output will be there for a particular input (for high and low level input)?

3- Can you provide any reference circuit for the same.

Kindly revert if any information is required from our end.

Regards,

Sumit Pande

  • 1. The TXS's outputs have a drive strength of 20 µA. If you need more, you need another translator.

    2. When it works, output = input.

    The TXS is optimized for bidirectional applications. For unidirectional translation, you should use direction-controlled or unidirectional translators like the SN74LXC8T245 or 2× TXU0104.

  • Hey Sumit,

    In addition to Clemens' response, please provide waveforms/ schematics if possible for further debugging. The TXS is open drain based and relies on its internal 10kohm pullups for DC high state. Are there any pulldowns at the outputs?
