SN74LVC8T245 input protection

Hello!

Are the SN74LVC8T245's inputs tolerate voltages independent of Vcc?

According to the datasheet, the maximum input voltage is 6.5V. 

What kind of input protection is there?

    The datasheet gives Vio (input/output voltage) on page 4 as MAX =  VCCO.

    So they are not independent.  

    If you needed to have 2 different voltages, or your data was only going one direction, there may be another solution out there, depending on the application.
