SN74HCT540: Question about SN74HCT540 :

Hello,

I have an assembly with the SN74HCT540 followed by another inverter (ULN2803A).I would like to know if I can replace these 2 components with the 74HCT541.

The ULN can handle higher voltages and currents. It is unlikely that a HCT output would be able to handle the load.

This depends on the relays. Do they work with 5 V and 6 mA?

The rated voltage is 24 VDC and the rated current is 8.3 mA.

I do not know whether "rated" refers to the maximum or minimum, but this sounds as if you actually need a strong driver like the ULN.
