TXB0108: TXB0108 connect serial with TXS0108

Part Number: TXB0108
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXU0304, TXU0104, TXU0204

Hi TI team,

I have an application need converter 1.8V<->3.3V<->1.8V

In the first translator we used TXB0108.

I know that TXB0108 need high enough drive strength at the input. So the second translator we can not to use TXB0108

But can we use TXS0108 insted of ?

Thanks and Best Regards,

  • Hi Duong,

Do you mean you use TXB between 1.8V<->3.3V and asking if you can use TXS for 3.3V<->1.8V?

If so, I presume this is not for a fixed directional application but a auto-bidirectional application. Hence, 1.8V<->3.3V and 3.3V<->1.8V should be the similar i.e 1.8V to and from 3.3V similar to 3.3V to and from 1.8V. Hence, if TXB worked fine for the first translator, you may use for all cases.

Please note further note that TXB VOL can be too high for TXS tighter VIL requirement for the serial connection as described, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.

  • The TXB cannot be used with any other translator (not even another TXB).

It might be possible to use two TXS.

The individual signals of serial lines usually are not bidirectional; in this case, use the TXU0104/TXU0204/TXU0304 instead.

  • Hence, if TXB worked fine for the first translator, you may use for all cases

Note, i.e a single TXB for all translation cases - up/down translations.
