SN74GTL2010: Design Support

Part Number: SN74GTL2010
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXU0104, TXU0304, LSF0108

Tool/software:

Hi,

I would like to confirm whether the level translator SN74GTL2010 is suitable for I2S bit clock level translation operating at a sampling rate of 44.1KHz @ 16bit sample

Thanks

Regards

Sandra

  • I²S uses unidirectional signals. You should use unidirectional translators like the TXU0104 or TXU0304.

  • Thanks for the reply.

We are using the I2S in full duplex mode and need to use the translator for bidirectional translation.

So can we use the SN74GTL2010 part? How much data rate can it support?

Can you suggest a similar part that can be used for I2S applications?

Also can we LSF0108 for our requirement? Could you share your comments on this?

  • Hey Sandra,

Are your I2S signals capable of communicating back and forth per channel? Or are the signals bi-directional in regards to multiple channels? (If so, the devices Clemens recommended should support the application.)

Otherwise,  both the LSF0108 and GTL2010 share similar architecture hence supporting similar applications. The data rate supported by these two devices are dependent on the external pullups used and can be estimated through 1/2*R*C where C is the total cap. load on the output of the device.

Note that the LSF0108 supports 8-ch level translation whereas GTL2010 supports 10-ch.

    Regards,

    Jack
