TXB0104: current-sourcing capability of the driver

Part Number: TXB0104

Tool/software:

Dear team,

At datasheet of TXB0104, Max continuous current is +-50mA like below. Is this value is the current-sourcing capability of the driver?

If yes, Is this value same under 3.3V and 5V supply?

We can see High level output current specification at TXU series but we can't find this value at TXB series. please let me know your opinion.

Thank you.

  • No, the absolute maximum rating is the limit beyond which the device might get damaged.

The actual drive strength is the test condition for VOH/VOL, i.e., it's 20 µA.

  • Hey Dino,

As Clemens' suggests, the TXB0104's output current spec is much weaker then the TXU series translators to allow the support of auto-bidirectional capability. It is purposely weak due to the 4k series resistance at the outputs of the TXB. If your signals are fixed direction per channel, the TXU series will be a much more robust solution for your system.

    Regards,

    Jack
