SN74LS04: Suffix difference between E4 and G4

What is the difference between the suffix G4 and E4 on the IC SN74LS04N?

I just recently purchased some of these IC and received G4 even though the website states that E4 is the current suffix.

Is there a difference between the two? Does the IC work differently between the two?

What is the part number on the shipping label? The marking is not the same as the part number, and "G4" would indicate NiPdAu lead finish.

Hi James,

Essentially the suffix mean different lead standards, E4 for J-STD-609 and G4 for J-STD-609 lead requirements & TI defined “Green” requirements but the chip will work the same.
