SN74LVC2G17: Can I use this device to convert from 3.3V to 5V as a logic level translator?

 Yes, the Schmitt-Trigger inputs are required for this design. Is there anything else capable of doing this conversion such as a dual supply device? I need something reliable that can output 32mA and handle at least 500 kHz switching frequency. Please let me know.

 Thank you for your response. I have chosen a different path and wonder if this works:

The dual buffer SN74LVC2G17DBVR works well like this but wonder about the VCC power. I have two 5V power rails coming from two sources. One is stepped down from 24V and it provides the whole board with 5V power. The 5V_L is the input power from the laser power supply and can be off depending on whether the laser is on or not. The question I have is can I use the buffer in this configuration with two 5V power sources and if the VCC is not present will it harm the R53 pullup and MOSFET that drives the inputs to the buffer?

 Thank you for clarifying this for me. The SN74LVC2G17DBVR has schmitt-trigger inputs so it sharpens those edges at the outputs.

Would this matter if the PWM signal is between 5 to 50 kHz? The default is 20 kHz which most customers use. Will this be a problem? The circuit has been reliable and working well. I chose to do it this way because the PWM signal is rather slow. If you have a better way to do it I am open to your suggestions.

This is not a fast PWM signal.
