SN74AVC2T245: Hspice model question

Part Number: SN74AVC2T245

Tool/software:

Hi TI,

About the SN74AVC2T245 Hspice model.

The VCC & data pin definition in the Hspice model was not found in the Datasheet(Fig.1).

Q1. How to connect VCC and data pin?

In my topology(Fig.2), the a1 and b2 pin are inputs, a2 and b1 pin are outputs, the voltage on side a is 1.8V, and the voltage on side b is 3.3V.

When I input the pulse to a1 and b2, the a2 and b1 should output a similar waveform with different voltage(Fig.3), but I cannot get that waveform at a2 and b1(Fig.4).

Q2. Is this because the VCC and data pin are not connected?

Q3. Does TI have the user guide document about this model?

By the way, I am using ADS for simulation.

Thank you.

  • Hello Shane,

Thank you for providing the HSPICE schematic and waveforms. Please allow me some time to look at our HSPICE model and your schematic. I will respond within two working days. Thanks!

    Regards,

    Josh

  • Hello Shane,

I replicated your schematic and saw similar waveform issues. Looking at the .sp file, all pins except DATA and VCC appear as parameters. I'm not sure if this is an issue with converting this HSPICE model into ADS.

I double checked with our IBIS model and was able to send a 1.8V input signal and convert it into 3.3V output, see image below. Could we use an IBIS model instead? Given that some issues seem to occur with the HSPICE model.

    Regards,

    Josh

  • Hi Joshua,

Thanks for your reply. I am currently prioritizing the use of the HSpice model.

Can I understand that the current HSpice model is unable to generate the converted waveforms?

If so, could you suggest another solution to make the HSpice model functional?

    Thank you.

  • Hello Shane,

That would be correct, this current HSpice model is unable to generate the converted waveforms. You can make output b1 work if you connect the data pin to B2 signal but I don't think this is a "fix". It seems some of the pins are not being referenced correctly when we converting this model to ADS.

I will still ask around our team if this could be an ADS converting issue but given this HSpice model was released back in 2009, I don't have much insight on how it was developed and most likely a remodel will need to occur.

    Regards,

    Josh

  • Hi Joshua,

Thank you for your feedback. If there are any updates from your team, please share them with us as soon as possible.

    Thank you very much.

  • Hi Shane,

Today is a public holiday. Please help give some time for feedback additional feedback, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.

  • Hello Shane,

Will do. And apologies for the inconvenience this brings.

    Regards,

    Josh
