Tool/software:
Hello,
Looking at the datasheet for SN74LVC8T245 (https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sn74lvc8t245.pdf?ts=1727709790343), the data rate does not seem to be specified. By contrast, the datasheet for the 1-bit version SN74LVC1T45QDCKRQ1 (https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sn74lvc1t45-q1.pdf?ts=1727716288683) specifies data rates across voltages on the first page.
Am I simply missing the parameter in the SN74LVC8T245 datasheet? If it indeed isn't listed, could anyone confirm if this max spec is defined?
Hi Exavier,
Please see this FAQ regarding max data rate estimation for devices not specifying max: https://e2e.ti.com/support/logic-group/logic/f/logic-forum/1372860/faq-how-can-i-estimate-data-rate-frequency-not-given-for-my-voltage-level.
You may also see the newer released SN74LXC8T245 that specs max data rate across voltage corners while also featuring schmitt-trigger inputs.
Regards,
Jack
Hi Jack,
Thanks for your quick reply. The SN74LVC8T245 datasheet doesn't seem to list Tpd as that FAQ describes to be able to estimate max data rate in that fashion.
Your suggested replacement (SN74LXC8T245) does explicitly confirm the data rates. This part is slightly more expensive and automotive grade (which I don't require). If all else fails I'll just go with this SN74LXC8T245, but is there a non-auto variant? The datasheet for the original SN74LVC lists its respective automotive PN in the datasheet; but the new SN74LXC doesn't similarly list industrial/consumer variants in that automotive-grade datasheet.
Hi Exavier,
Note that Tplh and Tphl values shown in SN74LVC8T245 d/s are equivalent to tpd values and can be used for similar estimation.
Regards,
Jack
