Hello Support team,
Searching Inverting buffers & drivers with filter ACT+8ch+catalog, SN74ACT240, CD74ACT240 and CD74ACT540 is obtained. Looking at the datasheets for each product, I don't see any major difference except package options. I know these are standard logic, but I would like to pick up one. Could you please explain the major difference between these products, and which one is the most recommended? One more question, could you please tell me the release date of each product?
Best Regards,
Katsuhiro
Hi Katsuhiro-san,
I would recommend SN74ACT240. The "CD" prefix is representing Harris devices that TI acquired. They are older and have been/will be updated less. But yes, overall, they will be very similar, if anything the exact same.
With the ongoing change to 300 mm wafers, I expect that SN and CD devices will use the same die, i.e., they will be identical.
The difference between the '240 and the '540 is that the latter has a pinout that allows easier routing.
Hi Albert,
Thank you for your prompt answer. My question is cleared. I will choose SN74ACT240.
Best Regards,
Katsuhiro
Hi Clemens.
Thank you for your reply. It's good to know that SN and CD devices will be identical after the transition to 300nm wafers. The difference between 240 and 540 is now clear.
Best Regards,
Katsuhiro
