SN54LVC14A: SN54LVC14A Vin question check

Part Number: SN54LVC14A

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

My customer  have a case where the voltage signal will have undershoot to close to -1V
Check SN54LVC14A datasheet that the minimum Vin for the SN54LVC14A is -0.5V.  Is there further reserved safety values between 0.5 to -1V?

If not, what's risk if customer use SN54LVC14A and have -1V vin in their product?
Customer would like to ask if there is a chance to use it in close to -1V, thank you

  • To ensure that the ringing is not a measurement artifact, use an oscilloscope with a ground spring, not a ground clip.

To avoid ringing, terminate the line. The simplest way to do this is source termination.

The absolute maximum ratings allow voltages below −0.5 V as long as the current is less than 50 mA. According to the IBIS model, voltages down to −1.4 V would be OK.
