SN74LVC7266A: Error in datasheet?

Part Number: SN74LVC7266A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74HCS7266, SN74HCS7266-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

I have used the SN74LVC7266ABQAR on a design, but the behaviour does not seems to be in line with the datasheet.

Can you check if the datasheet is correct or not?
I have highlighted in red in the image below how it seems like the device is behaving based on my measurements.

  • Hi Rune,

I need to order samples of the device to be able to check this.

    Best,

    Malcolm

  • Hi Malcolm,

    Any progress on this?

    BR,

    Rune

  • Hi Rune,

I just received the parts today. Please give me a week to prepare a board and test the part to see if the pinout matches the datasheet.

    Best,

    Malcolm

  • Hi Malcolm,

Thanks for checking this out and confirming my suspicion.

    BR,

    Rune

  • Hey Rune, Malcolm,

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. We are looking into this further and will get back to you regarding the appropriate fix action from our end.

  • Hey Rune,

Thanks for your patience on this issue.

We have determined that the devices were shipped with the wrong pinout and we will be fixing the physical devices to match the datasheet. If you have ordered these devices from TI, expect to see a recall in the near future. If you ordered through a distributor, I'm not sure how the process works (because I've never seen this type of issue before), but I would expect them to reach out to you after the recall is posted.

If you want to use the devices you have, that is fine (they will work correctly), however I would recommend any production build to hold off until we can correct the issue.

In the meantime, we do have the SN74HCS7266 (and SN74HCS7266-Q1) that is the same function that may work for your application.

  • Hi Emrys,

Thanks for your feedback on this issue. Do you have any guesstimate on when corrected devices will be available, weeks / months?

We are currently doing manual rework on our board just to get some produced. I have a new board design ready where I have adapted the board layout to the physical devices we have, but I have not put those to production yet as I was awaiting the solution on this thread.

If it is possible to get hold of the devices with "wrong pinout" it could be a possibility to use that updated design for a production batch or two, just to avoid the manual rework. And use the original board design once you have corrected parts available.

Changing to SN74HCS7266 (or SN74HCS7266-Q1) will trigger a bigger design change as the package types are bigger and will collide with other components on the board and I would like to avoid this.

  • Hey Rune,

I would suggest that we take this discussion off the public forum so we can iron out details for your company's solution in particular. Can you send me an email to: emrys (at) ti.com?
