SN74LVC2T45: Device Marking meaning

Part Number: SN74LVC2T45

Tool/software:

Hello TI Team!

I'd like to know what is the meaning of the marking on top of the component SN74LVC2T45DCUR I'm working with.
More specifically I have two batches of boards. One is mounted with component with "CT2J" marked on top, while the other is "CT2Q".

I found the document SNOA039C, but according to it, the first character 'C' is supposed to represent the Device type : "Comparator". However, the SN74LVC2T45DCUR is a level shifter. As the last version of the document is 2005, I guess it may be a bit obsolete :-)

Is there a more recent version available somewhere? I could not find it by directly typing it in the research bar.

Beside this it said in this document that :

The second two characters are a code relating to the device part number and options.

I guess "T2" is related to the SN74LVC2T45DCUR specifically?

The fourth character relates to device performance grade. This four-character “top mark” is usually fully specified in the device datasheet, for all options and grades of the product.

I didn't find the meaning in the datasheet. However it may not be explicitely written

I haven't found any topic related to that subjet for the SN74LVC2T45DCUR in the forum.

In any case could you please help me regarding this subject and the few questions above?

Looking forward to your answer I wish you a very nice day!

  • As shown in the column "Device Marking" in the package option addendum in the datasheet, both "CT2J" and "CT2Q" identiy the SN74LVC2T45DCUR.

The individual letters do not have any meaning. (TI makes so many chips that it is impossible to impose a structure.)

  • Hello,

Since TI has many products, each team decides their own device marking convention and may not follow the document you shared. The document was published back in 2005 so I'm sure how accurate this is :)

As Clemens mentioned, the device markings are mainly used to identify the device and its package.

    Regards,

    Josh

  • Hello!

Thank both of you for your replies, Clemens and Joshua, and sorry for the late answer (there was a public holiday on Friday here in France :-) )!

Okay, so it has nothing to do with a special batch or anything... Not that I'm disappointed or anything but it makes me wonder...

Why having several different suffixes for the same component then (J, Q, R)?

Is the last digit placed randomly for a given batch?

Can it be different for a same batch?

It seems kinda mysterious to me ;-)

    Best Regards,

    Benjamin

  • It is not random, and probably indicates different production lines or assembly sites, but TI does not publish such information.
