Some questions about  SN74LV125AT, please help

1. Can I use 3.3V signal buffer/driver( 3.6V maximum accepted on all pins) to drive SN74LV125AT with 5V power supply?
2. Is there any pullup resistor or clamp diode at SN74LV125AT input pin?

3. Is there damage risk of this 3.3V driver in condition in such configuration?

  • Hi,

    1. Yes, a 3.3V buffer can be used to drive a SN74LV125AT operating at 5V Vcc.

    2. The SN74LV125AT has a negative clamp diode from GND to VI, but does not have any pullup or pulldown resistors.

    3. This is a standard application for this TTL compatible device and there is no risk of damage assuming the limits in the datasheet are observed for both parts.

    Best,

    Ian
