SN74HC32: difference between SN74HC32NS and SN74HC32NSR

Part Number: SN74HC32
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74HCS32

Tool/software:

Hello experts

Hope this finds you well.

Basically, I think these 2 are same products. Right please? The only difference is only reel or not.

But if these 2 are different, we have below questions:

Is the HC32NS EOL or is it currently available for purchase through regular channels?
What is the difference between packages?
We mounted both devices on an existing board and compared the I/O characteristics, but there seems to be a difference (NSR is a few ns faster).
Is it correct to assume that the wafers and internal circuits are common to both sides
Please explain the factors that cause the difference in the rise/fall characteristics.
Please let me know for reference.

Regards,

Jieyu

  • The tube packaging (SN74HC32NS) was discontinued.

Independently from that, PCN#20200629000.1 introduced an entirely new die (on 300 mm wafers), with electrical characteristics more similar to that of the SN74HCS32; the guaranteed datasheet limits have not changed. If the SN74HC32NS were still active, then it would also use the new die now.

  • Thank you Clemens. So the only difference is tube and reel package, right please? The product itself is totally the same.

    Is my understanding correct?

    Regards,

    Jieyu
