SN74LVC4245A: SN74LVC4245A

Part Number: SN74LVC4245A

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

I am having an application use where I want to use SN74LVC4245A level shifter, and I want to use it for bidirectional application. But I could also see in the datasheet that there is a DIR pin which controls the flow from A to B or from B to A based on the logic provided to the DIR pin. So, my question is as follows:

1. How to use this particular for bidirectional application? if it can be used, then what should the logic with DIR pin? As per the below image my understanding is that we need to control DIR pin for direction. please suggest your inputs.

2. Also, for signals that are going to be level shifted, do we need to add any protection resistor for e.g. 10K-ohms or is it okay to connect directly those signals to the pins?
