SN74HCS165-Q1: Is it OK for VI>Vcc

Part Number: SN74HCS165-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer use case, there is possibility VI(6V) is higher than Vcc(5V).

They understand recommended VI is within 0V to Vcc. Is there risk for IC broken?

There is Clamp diodes, so they think it is no risk when ILK<20mA. Could you confirm please?

Regards,
