SN74LV14A-EP: SN74LV14AMPWREP - replacement

Part Number: SN74LV14A-EP

Tool/software:

Hi, we are considering the SN74LV14BMPWREP as a replacement for the SN74LV14AMPWREP. We noticed that the junction to ambient thermal resistance of the SN74LV14AMPWREP is 113 C/W while the SN74LV14BMPWREP is 151 C/W. These two parts have the same package. Is the SN74LV14BMPWREP worse than the legacy SN74LV14AMPWREP? What is the reason for the increased thermal resistance of the SN74LV14BMPWREP  relative to the SN74LV14AMPWREP?

In the electrical characteristics table, the SN74LV14AMPWREP shows +/- 50uA for the test condition for logic high voltage and logic low voltage. The SN74LV14BMPWREP shows +/- 50mA for the same characteristic. Is the test condition different for these two parts? Or is there a misprint on one of the datasheets?

In the EDS ratings section, the SN74LV14AMPWREP shows 200-V Machine Model (A115-A) while the SN74LV14BMPWREP does not show a machine model rating. Has this rating been dropped from the SN74LV14BMPWREP? Is the machine model rating already part of the ratings for the SN74LV14BMPWREP ?

Thanks

  • Hi Erik,

    1. LV14is under a new process. This raises the thermals a little bit, but overall should have no effect on designs,

    2. The 50 mA is a typo. It should also read 50 uA

    3. LV14B will also have the same MM ESD rating.
