SN74AHC244: SN74AHC244MPWREP

Part Number: SN74AHC244

Tool/software:

Is the part number referenced in the E2E thread title going obsolete? Is there a drop in replacement available for this part? SN74AHC244MPWREP is there an alternate part recommended for usage? If you can provide any information on this that would be helpful.

  • Hi Tamren,

Yes, this part is going obsolete.

Some replacements include SN74ALVC244IPWREPSN74HC244QPWREP, or, if you no longer need EP, SN74AHC244PWR.

  • These parts don't seem to be drop in replacements. Can you provide any technical differences that these parts have? I also see on a PCN that SN74LV8T244MPWREP is the recommended replacement. Why are you recommending the ones recommended over the part recommended on the PCN? Could you also answer the questions below?

    • Differences between the original and replacement parts
    • Compatibility and interchangeability (Form fit function)
    • Reason for obsolescence
    • Is the new part available now or when will it be ready for production/purchasing

  • All replacements have different electrical characteristics. The LV-T device has higher drives strength; the ALVC does not support 5 V and has higher drive strength; the HC has lower drive strength.

All replacements are active, but only the ALVC has stock.
