Hi team,

I have a question regarding the 5V input or output of SN74LVC244A. I can understand that 5V input is allowed to this device based on the input voltage of recommended operating conditions. But I think output of SN74LVC244A cannot output 5V since the output voltage of recommended operating conditions is from 0V to Vcc. Is my understanding correct?

What is the purpose of 5V input or output of this device?

When the outputs are disabled, an external 5 V voltage can be applied. (There are not many applications where this would be useful.)

Hi Yamamoto-san,

You are correct. The max output will be 3.6V (max Vcc)

Hi Yamamoto-san,

5V input is supported as an over-voltage input feature. You can use this to down translate 5 V -> 3.3 V (or lower based on Vcc).

As for output voltage at 5V, you can refer to Clemens answer where 5V can be applied but externally. The device is not able to output 5V.
