We have identified a noticeable difference in the top marking between the newly received CD74HC14M96 components (ordered via your official web store on March 25, 2025)

and the inventory previously used on our production line.

There have been no issues with the previously stocked parts; however, the newly received components are consistently showing defects when mounted on our production line.

Please refer to the attached photo for a comparison of the top markings.

We kindly request your guidance on how to resolve this issue. Our production schedule is currently being affected, so we would greatly appreciate your prompt support.

Since 2020, there are devices with a changed die; see PCN#20200629000.1. Going forward, all devices will use the new die. (The marking change is not related to this.)

The guaranteed datasheet limits have not changed. It is likely that your circuit relies on characteristics that are not guaranteed by the datasheet. Please show the schematic, and specify exactly what those supposed defects are.

Before sending the schematic to your team, our internal quality department would like to further investigate the root cause on our side.

According to our quality team’s request, we have confirmed through the PCN documentation that the CD74HC14M96 is manufactured at five different locations.

To analyze whether any deviation in our circuit is related to differences based on the manufacturing site, we would like to perform a comparative test.

Would it be possible for us to either purchase or receive samples from the following manufacturing sites — 10 units each?

10 units produced in Shanghai (ASH)
10 units produced in Hefei (HFT)
10 units produced in Economic Development Zone (NFM)

We would appreciate your guidance on how to proceed with this.

Hi mgtech,

I can tell you that there is a 99% chance this issue is die change related given the part number. The AT site is completely unrelated, the issue would be the FAB the device is produced in.

The most efficient way to proceed with this issue is going to be for you to go here, contact quality, and initiate a return:

Thank you for your reply. However, we still need to perform verification on our end.

Based on the information you provided, we understand the issue may not be related to the assembly site but possibly to the FAB site noted in the PCN.

To verify the impact of the FAB change, would it be possible for us to receive 2 units manufactured in Mexico with a date code from 2024 or 2025?

We would like to use them for internal testing based on the updated FAB described in the PCN.

We would greatly appreciate your support.
