The datasheet Absolute Maximum Ratings and Recommended Operating Conditions are a little vague and inconsistent with answers I've seen in the forums. For this part, can the input voltage be greater than the VCC? Based on the highlighted lines in the Abs Max table, it would seem the answer is 'yes'. For instance, the max output limit has a VCC-related maximum but the input does not, and the power-off state maximum input voltage is not zero. The Recommended table is similar in that the max output voltage is VCC-related but the input is not.
However, one forum answer seems to indicate this is not true. Can we get a ruling by a TI apps engineer?
