SN74HC02: SN74HC02N and SN74HC32N plating on shoulder of leg.

Part Number: SN74HC02

Tool/software:

Good morning,

We have some Texas Integrated circuits, SN74HC02N and SN74HC32N and our customer (Aerospace) has rejected the parts based on IPC-A-610 7.1.2.4, as the width of the leg has stress cracks that expose the copper base material.

Thankfully we also have some 'known good' parts (also Texas Instruments) to compare against. There is a difference in leg plating condition, internal lead frame structure, internal bonding wire gauge and a very slight difference in top marking. I understand that this does not mean they are not genuine Ti parts, just that different fabrication houses may have different methods.

Our known good SN74HC02N have a part marking of 75AJ70K E4. The ones with exposed basis metal have a part marking of 2AAZS4K E4.

Our known good SN74HC32N have a part marking of 82CNJTK E4. The ones with exposed basis metal have a part marking of 38AFE1M G4

I'm presently chasing down certificates of conformance, hopefully I can get them all the way back to Ti supply. My concern is that our old stock appear to have excellent lead condition, the most recent stock, across multiple part numbers, is markedly poorer. Would Ti consider the stress marks on the shoulder acceptable for supply?

kind regards

Ben
