SN74HCT244: Why SN74HCT244N with ROHS=Yes and with NiPdAu lead finish have some parts received with "ROHS EXEMPT" on label?

Dear Sir/Madam,

Recently we have received multiple items showing "RoHS Exempt" on label.

However, when search on TI material content search (Material content search | Texas Instruments), it only shows RoHS = Yes.

Take SN74HCT244N as example, order# with TI: T05825063. “Material Content search” screenshot showing as “RoHS=Yes” and lead finish “NiPdAu”. However the parts received are with same COO but with different RoHS status: RoHS Exempt and Pb free.

Could you please help advise why different RoHS status exists for same item? and why the NiPdAu lead finish which is PB Free and RoHS=Yes based on datasheet is now RoHS exempt? Will this affect part's fit, form and functionality?

Hi,

I have reached out to our team to try and track down this issue.

As for the device functionality, nothing should change. I believe for now it seems to just be a shipping label mistake/issue.

This is not single case, we also saw "RoHS exempt" logo on MPN CSD19538Q2 (COO China), LM6171AIMX/NOPB (COO Germany) although they are also RoHS=Yes on datasheet or material content search page.
it will be strange that these part from different COO are all shipping label mistake. Can help further investigate and advise before closing this case? Many thanks.

Understood, this seems to be a larger issue that just our devices (Logic).

I will let the Malaysia engineer know that it may not only be and MLA issue. They will know who to reach out. I will do my best to keep you updated on the status as this is out of my hands for now.

Hi Fangfang,

The team believes there were able to track down the issue. It was a flag in one of our databases that didn't seem to be set correctly. Hopefully there will be no more issues in the future.

Just to help confirm for you this device is ROHS "Yes".
