I'm trying to identify an HC04 with top marking 82AFCNF. It's most likely obsolete. I understand HC04's are pretty common but I need the exact original part number so i can find the closest match.

Hi John,
These parts are not obsolete, and still driving strong.
It looks to me that this is the D package so the orderable number of SN74HC04DR should be fine for you.

Owen
To be clear, I don't know if SN74HC04DR is the right part number at all. The system required that I choose an existing P/N for the heading. All I know for sure is what is in the photo. I haven't seen those part markings on any of the datasheets I've found.
That would probably help. Does it have the same part markings? It would be really nice if I could find a datasheet that confirms the markings. I'm really looking for the exact original part data. We're reverse engineering, so I don't want to be too casual just because it's a generic device. I'd like to be able to confirm as many electrical ratings etc. as possible.
The first line includes date code and lot/trace code information, so it will change.
The guaranteed electrical characteristics of HC devices have not changed.
