SN74LV1T126: SN74LV1T126 Part variance..

Part Number: SN74LV1T126

Tool/software:

HI,

I Have a design using this as a buffer on an I2C clock signal but have an issue where parts marked NENJ work on the product but parts marked 3CHF do not. Why so many different top marks for the same product? Different Fabs? Acquired designs from other aqcuired manufacturers? Could there be subtle characteristic differences between? I'm going to dust off the old scope to see what the signals look like but surely all the parts under the same part no./Datasheet should be the same spec....?

Andrew.

  • Hello Andrew,

What's the entire part number on the LV1T126. There may have been a refresh with this part and package.

If you could share waveforms between NENJ and 3CHF devices that would be helpful.

    Regards,

    Josh

  • Hi Josh, Many thanks for the response, though I've had to move on to another project/crisis so may be a few days until I can work on this again. If there is any part background (why there could be differences) you can give me iin the meantine would be appreciated. Full part is SN74LV1T126DVBR.

  • Hello Andrew,

Thank you for the information. Looking into this, I see part with top marking 3CHF was a refresh device. Meaning die was refreshed with a new process technology to support 300mm wafers (NENJ is built using 150mm wafers).

This could explain the inconsistencies between the two top markings.

Whenever you get the time, please share the two waveforms with me. Thank you!

    Regards,

    Josh

  • Ahh, I see, can this be controlled via supply chain- requesting NENJ only? I imagine not as they're the same part number, or are all the variants likely to move to the new process? If NEN3 is the 150 process then I only see one variant against SN74LV1T126DBVRG4 and could change part ordering to the G4 variant as an interim measure.

  • Hello Andrew,

You are correct saying it will be difficult to request only NENJ devices. However, are you able to get a hold of a TI sales representative? They can work with you to ensure you get the correct samples.

    Regards,

    Josh
