SN74LV14A: PSpice for TI Simulation

Part Number: SN74LV14A

Tool/software:

I have tried using PSpice for TI to simulate a relaxation oscillator using the TI library component (for this part, by part number) built into the simulation tool. However, it causes my transient analysis to run extremely poorly and eventually lock up and fail. Can someone investigate this model for issues?

  • Hi,

Can you share your circuit and error you are seeing?

  • I have reduced the simulation to just the relaxation oscillator, but what I'd really like to simulate is a larger circuit with an amplifier chain coupled to that oscillator.

PSpice for TI schematic for the simplified circuit here.

After a few hours of running the transient simulation, I get a pop-up window that asks me if I want to change any settings. If I dismiss that window I note that the simulation is paused with these errors:

    Thanks,

    Eric

  • When I lower the load impedance (from 1G to 1M) on the output, the simulation executes very quickly.

When I disconnect the diode and the pulse source which is used to "kick-start" the oscillator, lower the feedback resistor to 100k (and increase the capacitor proportionally to 220n) and remove the output impedance, I actually get oscillation.

  • Hi,

Let me try to build the circuit on my end and also look through the PSPICE model code. These were made a while ago and there are some common issues that we see in them sometimes.
