Line Level Conversion II

I have two microcontrollers talking to each other via shifted UART, 3.3V <-> 5V . I have an old design that has a large number of parts for the line conversion I'm updating and I am trying to evaluate using the TXS01xx.  I'm concerned that the microcontrollers don't have enough drive capability to overcome the bidirectional drive. Does anybody have any advice or experience on the matter?
