I have a few technical questions regarding the TPLD1201, TPLD801, and TPS65987D.

  1. TPLD1201 / TPLD801 Edge Detection:
    • Can these parts detect a 100ms width edge?
    • Is detection possible if the width is greater than the tpflt_pd spec in the datasheet?
  1. Programming Tool Compatibility:
    • Is the TPLD-PROGRAM writer tool compatible with both TPLD1201 and TPLD801?

    Can these parts detect a 100ms width edge?

    Yes, the detection of an edge is dependent on the VIH/VIL of the input and not the speed of the edge. If you are using slow input transitions such as 100ms, you configure the TPLD with Schmitt-Trigger inputs. This eliminates transition width requirements.

    Is detection possible if the width is greater than the tpflt_pd spec in the datasheet?

    The tpflt_pd is not related to the input transition width. The tpflt_pd is specifies the amount of time it takes between the time an edge transition occurs and for the programmable filter to output.

    100ms width edge is not a problem for TPLD. Please use Schmitt Trigger mode on the input pins, and there will be no issues. If you do not use Schmitt Trigger input mode, you may see unwanted oscillations on the output.

    Is the TPLD-PROGRAM writer tool compatible with both TPLD1201 and TPLD801?

    Yes, you can use the TPLD-PROGRAM to with both TPLD1201 and TPLD801. However, you will still need the TPLD801 EVM and the TPLD1201 EVM if you would like to evaluate both the TPLD1201 and TPLD801. However, you only need one TPLD-PROGRAM. TPLD-PROGRAM works with every TPLD EVM.
