SN74AXC4T774: PIN8 and PIN10 are short

Part Number: SN74AXC4T774

Hi team,

My customer is using SN74AXC4T774 in humanoid robot application.

Now they find pin8 and pin10 are short together.

They use 1.8V and 3.3V power supplies for two sides and they are power on at the same time by one enable signal.

Do you have any idea what the reason cause short issue.

I am aks them to share schematic and test all the power rails and input/output signal at the POR time.

  • Probably overvoltage on pin 8.

Is it possible for noise to be coupled into this line?

  • Hello Gary,

As Clemens commented, this could be due to electrical overstress (EOS). Any voltage or current that surpasses the absolute max ratings can result pins shorting to ground.

If it is related to EOS, then I would monitor pin8 and pin10 voltages during normal operation and see if anything stands out that could potential damage the pins.

    Regards,

    Josh
