TXV0106: Tpd, frequency/speed

There is the TXB0604 in 4-channel that supports level shifting of the bidirectional IO lanes- please refer to the switching characteristics table of that the device to see if it can fit your needs: www.ti.com/.../TXB0604

I need the 3.3V to 1.8V level translator for six signals (as I mentioned in my message).

And, it's a one direction translation (only write is supported).

Some details are missing for me in the TXV0106 (I wrote them).

Can you assist with these?

I inspected the TXB0604 and for translation of 3.3V to 1.8V.

It has a maximum Tpd of 3.6 or 3.7ns which is slightly better than the TXV0106 (3.8ns).

Signal Tr/Tf is also better (0.8ns max for 15pF versus 0.8ns max for 5pF in the TXV0106). 

However, it's a 4 bit device (I need 6 with minimal skew between them) and I wonder if the automatic direction is foolproof.

Hi Gil,

A bi-directional level shifter would be needed here especially if your IOx data lines are bidirectional during R/W phases. Unfortunately, there is only the 4-channel of the TXB0604, though there is a 6-channel with slower speeds supporting similar application (TXB0106) for 3.3V to 1.8V translation.

Can you specify the maximum speed (MHz or Mbps), typical Tpd (max is 3.8ns) , typical Tr/Tf for 10pF load?

Will it be able to drive a 168MHz signal?

Hi Gil,

Thanks for clarifying the application. It seems that only the write signal is needing the level shifting, so the bidirectional signaling is not needed. The max data rate for this device can be estimated through 1/Tpd, similar to that mentioned in this FAQ:  [FAQ] How can I estimate Data Rate Frequency not given for my voltage level? 

Unfortunately the requested data was not collected at the time of characterization, though the https://www.ti.com/tool/TXV0108-EVM can be used to evaluate the silicon per your specific setup.

I ordered the TXV0106-EVM. I trust it is the same as the TXV0108.

By the way, can an IBIS model or a SPICE model help evaluate the device performance?
