SN74ACT00: Regarding the total output current

Part Number: SN74ACT00

SN74ACT00BQAR

Is the 24mA/-24mA output current of the SN74ACT00BQAR the value for one port?

Is it safe to use 24mA simultaneously on all four ports?

Please tell me the total output current limit for the components.

  • When the output current per pin is no larger than 24 mA, then the VOL/VOH values are guaranteed. With a current larger than 24 mA at a pin, the output voltage might exceed these limits.

The absolute maximum ratings specify the limits that your circuit must respect to prevent damage. The continuous output current limit is 50 mA per pin. The output current also flows through the VCC pin (for a high output) or through GND (for a low output), so 4 × 50 mA = 200 mA would be allowed.
