SN74LXC8T245: SN74LXC8T245 speed when Vcca == Vccb

Part Number: SN74LXC8T245
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AXC8T245

Dear TI forum, I'm trying to undestand what would be the minimum (worst case) and typical bandwidth of the SN74LXC8T245 when both Vcca and Vccb are equal to 3.3 V. Using this FAQ as a reference and the maximum t_pd of 9 ns (from 6.10 Switching Characteristics) I get an estimated ~111 Mbs worst case. Is that correct? Conversely the in best case of t_pd == 3 ns I could expect 333 Mbps. Is that true?

  • Hello Lukasz,

    We can estimate the max data rate by using the following formula: 1 / tpd .

    Since we have a max prop delay of 9ns, then our estimated max data rate would be 111Mbps. This is based on the test circuit found on Section 7.1.

    If we look at another level translator like SN74AXC8T245,  which has a max prop delay of 4ns (VCCA=VCCB=3.3V), our max estimated data rate would be 250Mbps.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,

    Josh
