SN74LVC1G139: Behabior when beyond the operating temperature

Part Number: SN74LVC1G139

Dear Technical Support Team,

Operating temperature range for SN74LVC2G66YZPR and SN74LVC1G139YZPR is from -40 to 85.

I have three questions.

1.

If the 85 product is used at temperatures exceeding its upper limit, up to 125, how will it behave?

2.

If both the 85 and 125 products are used at temperatures exceeding their upper limits, up to 150, how will they behave?

3.

I understand that operation is not guaranteed, but in terms of actual performance, up to what temperatures have the 85 and 125 products been verified to operate?

Could you please let me know, to the extent that you are able to disclose this information?

Best Regards,

ttd

  • Hi ttd,

We do not keep data for failure rates above operating temperature because those are not conditions that we guarantee. This means that the failure modes can be unpredictable.

There are several different things that can happen when temperature is exceeded such as device failure or unpredictable behavior due to melting or stress on the various components of the device. Sometimes you'll see normal working operation but shortened lifespan or reduced reliability. The issue is that we can guarantee behavior within the recommended operating temperature, but outside of this temperature we cannot make any guarantees.

TI cannot accept responsibility for device behavior or reliability when they are used outside of datasheet specifications. We do have products that allow for an extended temperature range, so I suggest looking to see if any of those will fit your needs.

    Regards,

    Nikki
