SN74LVC1G126: bond wire

Part Number: SN74LVC1G126

Hi,

I took an X-ray image of the SN74LVC1G126DCKR and observed what appears to be two bond wires associated with the GND connection.

  • From the X-ray image, in addition to the bond wire between the die pad and the lead frame, there appears to be a bond wire between two lead-frame sections. Is this a standard package construction?

  • If this is a standard configuration, could you please explain the purpose of the wire bonding between the lead-frame sections?
    Best Regards,
    Nishie

  • Yes, this is a standard and completely normal package construction for the SN74LVC1G126DCKR in its 5-pin SC70 (DCK) package.
Observing a bond wire extending from the silicon die pad to the lead frame, along with a secondary bond wire directly connecting two separate lead-frame sections (often referred to as a lead-frame bridge bond, stitch bond, or down-bond), is a common practice in modern semiconductor packaging. Semiconductor manufacturers often design a single, standardized silicon die that is utilized across multiple package variants (e.g., SOT-23, SC70, DRL) or different pin configurations. Instead of spinning a completely new silicon design to match every unique internal lead-frame layout, the manufacturer uses lead-frame-to-lead-frame wire bonds to route common electrical nodes (like GND) to the appropriate external package pins
  • Hi Hailong-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

I would like to confirm whether the explanation you provided matches what I observed in my X-ray inspection images.

Since I would like to share the X-ray images with you via private message, I have sent you a friend request.

I would appreciate it if you could accept the request.

    Best Regards,

    Nishie

  • No problem.

  • Thank you.

    T sent private message.

    Best Regards,
