SN74LVCH16T245 fails at 250Mbps

Hello,

I am using SN74LVCH16T245 VOLTAGE LEVEL TRANSLATOR for translating from 3.3V to 1.8V. My data rate is 250 Mbps but I am getting very degraded output. Please tell me the maximum speed that it can support?

    For SN74LVCH16T245, from 3.3V to 1.8V tranlation, the Max Data Rate is about 70MBPS at 15pF load. The less capacitor load the faster. For your application, I am not sure what  

    capacitive load you drived, could you please let me know this? also I prefer to you change to SN74AVC16T245 or SN74AVCH16T245 (you can find the pin-pin compatible with SN74LVCH16T245), those two can provide faster data rate than SN74LVCH16T245 up to 250MBPS.

    if you want to change, please let me know what your capacitive load is, and then I can provide you the confirmation.

    I am driving usb3.0 transceiver from TI, part no. is TUSB1310A. The USB3.0 transceiver has 16 no. of tx_data pins which I am driving from the voltage translator.

    For the TUSB1310A, I did not find the Ci data for the 16 Tx lines , do you have that? we need to information to do the evaluation. also, could you please also let me know  the length of the PCB trace for the 16 TX lines? the PCB trace will contribute the capavitive load.

    For your design, even we do not know the capacitive load , the SN74LVCH16T245, from 3.3V to 1.8V tranlation, it can not support to 250MBPS. I just use the IBIS for TUSB1310A and make the 0.5in PCB trace with 55 impedance, it is Ok to use the SN74AVC16T245 and SN74AVCH16T245.  so I recommend you to change to SN74AVC16T245 or SN74AVCH16T245.
