IC IDENTIFICATION!?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74F573

Recently I was given this project to work on and soon afterwards of receiving the pcb boards, I immediately began the manufacturing process of adding all the necessary components to the boards. All was well until I got to the upper chips that BOTH had the numbers SCRATCHED OFF OF THEM!!! I sent "MY BOARD" (The "prototype") to a local engineer to see what he could tell me about them, and the lower was WAS VERIFIED as a "LATCH" as I originally suspected it would be, which I was VERY pleased to hear.

However they gave me a few other numbers for the other chip that did NOT VALIDATE! I tried both numbers that they gave me at Mouser, MCM, Jameco, and Digikey and NONE CAME UP!!! As such, they MUST BE THE WRONG NUMBERS!!!! So as a last resort, I turn to you (The manufacturer) for guidance in this "VAGUE" area!

So here's the numbers that they gave me:

 TI 901510

serial number

3758147 or 3750147

(fuzzy as to whether that middle
number is an 8 or a 0)

Pretty certain that THIS ONE IS THE "GATE!" ;)

Do you think you can refer me to someone that may be able to tell me "EXACTLY" which IC this is, or at least give me one that has an EXACT Cross Reference Number on it (the pinout and voltage has to be EXACT as the original IC due to the nature of the project).

Sorry to bother you so close to the holidays with this issue, but I've been waiting for two years to get a hold of the guy that gave them to me and he never responded after repeated attempts to locate him!

  Thanks a bunch!

  • Hi Charles

These numbers do not mean anything to me. They are not part numbers.

  •   Hummm I thought it also <STRANGE> and "peculiar" that they were sending me THOSE numbers as "common sense" has me looking at the 74ls,74s, 74,7h,7f,etc.etc series....  So where do you think I should go next to ask about what chip this might be?

It's a 16-Pin DIP style, it IS a TI IC, and it's either a multiplexer or a gate set to 5VDC (as the other 20-pin IC was "VERIFIED" as a "LATCH). It's being utilized in an 8-Bit Application for a "MULTICART" for a Commodore 64 Computer with the main component being a 27C4001 EPROM.

Any ideas as to what this might be?

      Thanks for the fast response!

  • Hi Charles

I am sorry but i dont know where to begin.  there are over 20000 different parts in logic. You eliminated about half with 5V Vcc but that still leaves a lot of parts.

If you have some way to Decap the parts and look at the part number on the die then we could tell.

The 20pin latch may be a 573 function Like SN74F573.  Thats a total shot in the dark though.
