Why 74LVCH16T245 VCCA and VCCB get shorted

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXB0101

I connected the 5V to VCCB and 3V3 to VCCA, after that I found the 5V was shorted with the 3V3. Why it happened?

  • I had the same problem with a 74LVC1T45 connected the same way: 5V to VCCB and 3.3V to VCCA.  I'm not sure if the problem was that I didn't have pull-up/down resistors on my input signal line, as the datasheet states that all inputs must be a defined HIGH or LOW state or excessive Icc currents may result.   This could be something for you to check if it makes any difference.

I switched to a TXB0101 and have not had problems with it.

  • Hmmm.....I found that the non-soldered 74LVCH16T245 chips have VccA tied to VccB.
