I have a MAX3222I and I cannot seem to get the DOUT1 and DOUT2 to function. I am powering it with 3.3V and have pulled PWRDOWN to the 3.3V. I have also attached the capacitors for the charge pump. The issue I have is that when I toggle the DIN1 or DIN2 (buy applying a 3.3v or a gnd [I am not using a function generator]), the output will not switch low to high. I have even attached 3k load resistor to both DOUT lines. Nothing I seem to do works, both DOUT lines stay low. I am trying this with a 2nd IC and get the same issue, so I believe it is something I'm doing (or not doing). All I am trying to do is exercise the driver to make sure it switches (not concerned about transfer speed) I can get the RX side to toggle.
Another thing I have noticed is that the V+ only goes to 3.7v and V- only goes to -3.7v. According to the data sheet it should be at +5 and -5 respectively. I have attached 0.1uF caps as indicated in the datasheet.
Are the charge pump issues related to the DOUT issues or different?
