SN74LVC8T245: VCCB switching during operation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC8T245, TPS2115A

Hello to all TI experts,

is it possible to change VCCB of the SN74LVC8T245 between 3.3V and 5V during operation?

I there anything I have to keep in mind when doing so?

Or are there any reasons that forbid this?

I am looking forward to your answers.

Regards, Niels

  • Hi, Niels

Contineous change from 3.3V to 5V or 5V to 3.3V will not have the problem. No changes on the pins, just some voltage level change at the B output.

The key thing is how will the chage will be? if 3.3V gone and then 5V comes or 5V gone and then 3.3V comes, the part may have the status change at the IO pins. it will trigger the Vcc isolation feature to make the IO in the high-Z state.

if you don't care the IO status , it will be OK.

  • Junjie,

    thanks a lot.

I want to use TPS2115A as power switch, and IO change during VCCB voltage change is no problem.
