SN74AHCT04D input siganal present while power disconnected

I have a situation where at times the SN74AHCT04D power pins will be disconnected (floating) but a signal will still be present on the inputs. Will the part be damaged or have reduced reliability over time due to this condition. One concern I have is that maybe the ESD diodes will turn and draw extra current causing latent failures. Is this a problem? Are their any other concerns I should have?
