About SN74LVC4245

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC8T245, SN74LVC4245A

Dear all,

I have two questions around SN74LVC4245AD

1)      What happen to the I/O ports when the component is partially powered, more in details

What happen to B ports when VCCA and DIR are supplied to 5V, nOE=GND and VCCB missing?

2)      In another application B ports are configured like inputs (DIR=GND) and are connected to my microprocessor I/O

The micro always drive own outputs with a defined logic state but during start up for around 100ms-200ms they are floating.

I have to put pull up resistors or I can skip it?

Thanks…

  • Hi, Alessandro

As you described, it is abnormal setup for SN74LVC4245A. It is not suggested application for SN74LVC4245A. If this case must be covered, please use another part SN74LVC8T245. The power isolation feature can meet your requirement.

If input of SN74LVC4245A is floating, the output will be at floating state. I am not sure that whether the output floating state will bring negative effect for your system.

    Thanks.
