Power ON condition of level shifter 74lvc16245 (Misbehaving)

Hi,

We are using the level shifter 74lvc16245 for level shifting of 3.3V to 5V. ,1A1 is pull down to 0V using 10K resistor,  IDIR to 3.3V, 1OE to 0V directly. The problem is at power ON the output of the level shifter 1B1 is a pulse of 10us and 2.2V for 0V input. Why is this happening like this? This is happening for other outputs also.

Please let me know if there are any solutions to avoid the pulse in the output at power on.

Regards

Venkat

  • Hi Venkat

The 74LVC16245 is not a level shifter. It could shift down from 5V to 3.3V but can not shift up.

The best way to prevent a glitch at power up is to tie OE to Vcc with a pullup resistor.  You will then need a control signal to set OE low for normal operation.
